I went to Charmaine Olivia’s new show Muses opening night and starting talking to this young woman in line waiting to get in.

“Are we here earlier enough to get the free posters?”
“I think so. I hope so. I love her work. I flew all the way from St. Louis to see the show.”
“You flew all the way here just to come to this art show!?! That’s dedication.”
“I know, I’m so jealous that she get’s to paint all day.”
“Why are you jealous? You could paint all day too.”
“But she does it as her full time job, that’s so awesome.”
“I’ve watched her over the past few years and she is one of hardest working people I’ve ever seen. She’s constantly creating. That’s what it takes if you want to make a living off your art. You’ve obviously got the passion, you flew across the country to be here.”
“Hmm…you think so?”
“Definitely.”
