I was walking thru the mission when I ran in Ryan, we went to film school together when I first moved to San Francisco 5 years ago. It had been a couple years since we’d seen each other. When I saw him I said…
“Mr. Anderson! What’s happening?”
“Chilling bro. How you doing? It’s been a minute."
"Life is great. I’m living the dream.”
“Yeah, I see all the pictures you post to Facebook. I really enjoy them.”
“Thanks. I feel really blessed. We just finished the first book. Everyday I wake up feeling happier than before. What’s up with you?”
“Still working at Lucky, dating the same girl, that’s all going really good. I’m thinking about moving to New York though.”
“Oh yeah, how come?”
“I’ve been here 5 years, and I love it but I feel like it’s time for a change. I feel inspired to be healthy here, I feel inspired to take my time, but I don’t feel inspired to be all that I can be…so it’s time for a change of pace.”
“I hear you dude. It’s taken me about 5 years to really feel like this is my home and -”
Just then, a man in a brightly colored hippie outfit with flowers around his neck walked by us.
“-You see, when I started this project I would have stopped our conversation short and ran after that man to take his picture. But now, I know that there are interesting people everywhere in this city and I don’t have to be in a rush to do anything. Maybe it’s because I’m 30 now. I definitely feel a much deeper sense of calm and patience.”
“I actually feel the opposite. I feel like I’ve been playing it safe and been very cautious and reflective about all the decisions I’ve made up until this point. I feel like it’s time to be a little more reckless. For me, 30 is the new 20 and I feel like my life is just beginning.”
“I agree with you there, I feel like life is taking off in a way I’ve always dreamed of but never thought was possible until now.”
“Cheers to that.”
“For sure. Cheers to us. Best of luck on your new journey to the Big Apple bro.”
