Hey y’all, meet Laura. She took a Vayable tour with me the other weekend. After demonstrating some techniques I asked her,

“Why do you live in San Francicso over anywhere else?”

“Because here anything is possible.”

“What’s your ideal day here?”

“Bike down to Ritual Roasters for a cuppa and a chat with Che, my favorite barista, and some serendipitous run-ins with friends in the neighborhood. Crunch out a good story — I’m a reporter — then walk over to Dolores Park. (The ideal day is overcast until 3 p.m., when I can swing a break. Then the sun comes out.) Stretch out on a blanket, bite into an Ike’s and crack open a good book until sundown. Ride home to Lower Pac Heights to a refrigerator full of goodies from the market and my car still parked in one of the rare unmetered spots where the street-sweepers only come once a month. Invite over some friends to nosh on a homemade salad and a $4.99 bottle of Riesling from the corner market, where the shopkeeper works 14-hour days but still always has a song to sing as he’s cashing me out. Bliss.”

Check out her review of the tour :

Souls of San Francisco is one of my favorite art projects, so it was a real treat to score an afternoon with this master of street photography. Equal parts philosophy class and photography workshop, this tour covers everything from Garry’s pre-shooting rituals and dSLR basics to tips on scouting the perfect background and approaching strangers to be your models. My perspective on this city is forever changed.
