While waiting for a free show by Jessie Ware to start at Amoeba Records I asked this kid, “You excited about the show? I don’t really know this singer.”

“Yeah. She’s great. Kind of an electro soul Sade.”

“That sounds pretty awesome. How’d you find out about her?”

“I work in a record store so we listen to a lot of great music.”

“That’s cool man. You like to play music yourself or just listen to it?”

“I don’t really play, I used to cipher but people would clown on me and tell me I couldn’t rap because I was Asian.”

“Naw dude. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do anything. You can do anything you put your mind to.”

“Yeah…I know.”
