“Why did you move to San Francisco?”
“I left boston to ride out the rest of winter season and pull inspiration in a warmer climate. In the past I’ve snow birded to Mexico City, and Buenos Aires, but I wanted to go somewhere in the US this year. So off I went to America’s sassiest city.”
“What do you hope to accomplish while you’re here?
"My plan was to immerse myself into the city culture and work on creating "Mixcard.me”, a side project that I made with a friend. The idea is a Mixtape + Art Print + Postcard. You pick some music, an image from our art gallery – and the site prints and mails a postcard to your friends’ apartments. On the back of the card is a QR code so the person who receives it can scan into it and listen to the mixcard with their phone.
It was on kickstarter and it made 175% of its goal (http://kck.st/VImwfs). I think it works because people resonate with the nostalgia of mixtapes and postcards, but the best part for me is the art prints – when someone picks a print to go on the postcard, it’s an affordable way to support an artist, and then you’re part of that artist’s story. It’s music, art, and good feelings in a nice package, so an overall dope gift.“
"What do you feel inspired to do after being here?”
“SF has a fearlessness and a sense of city wide collaboration. I’d like to recognize and encourage that in the creative community in "cambraville” (cambridge+somerville) in whatever little ways I can – by pulling people into my projects or finding opportunities to offer help.“
