I stopped this guy on Haight between Fillmore and Webster and asked, “You live in this neighborhood?”

“Yep, for over 20 years.”

“How has it changed over time?”

“Well for one, 20 years ago you wouldn’t want to come on this side of Fillmore. It used to be rough…really rough. There’s that housing project down there on Webster that has slowly been pushed back by new stores and businesses. People coming into the neighborhood with new blood. I think the diversity has reached it’s height though. Now we’ve got all these dot commers. 23 year olds with all this money coming in and buying everything and making it into something else.”
