“How you doing today?”

“I’m a little depressed.”

“What’s going on? Just feel tired today, but it’ll be alright. Trying to get some money, if I get $10 I can stay in the shelter tonight.”

“How’d you get in this situation?”

“Naw, that’s a long story. My wife left me when she was pregnant, I’ve had 3 nervous breakdowns. One time a guy tried to rob me and I didn’t wanna give him my money so he cracked me over the eye and I can’t see outta it. And now my vision in the other eye is blurry.”

“I’m sorry to hear all that.”

“It’s okay, I just need to be away from people for a minute. I’m 64 years old. I know how it is. I’m too old to get to upset about it.”

“I’m Garry.”

“Benjamin.”

“I hope your day gets better.”

“Thanks.”
