“Do you live in this neighborhood?”

“Yeah, I just moved here from Vancouver about 3 months ago.”

“Nice, whaddya think?”

“It’s amazing. I think of it as Vancouver on steroids.”

“I’ve always wanted to visit up there. What do you do here?”

“I work at Twitter.”

“I’ve talked to a lot people that can’t stand all the technology people coming to the city, it’d be nice to hear your side of the story.”

“Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it’s an age thing more than technology. My parents still don’t totally grasp the internet so they have a hard time seeing the value of what I do. They’re from India so the new things when they were growing up were roads and telephones. This is a little more abstract.”

“And I get that, times change faster now than they ever have in human history. Even I find myself calcifying to the way things are because there’s so much change all the time. I guess no one ever thinks they’ll get old.”

“Yeah, the world is always changing and new things pop up all over the place, but if people take 5 minutes to really hear other perspectives on change and progress I think it would help a lot.”
