“I like your hair. Is it okay if I take your picture?”
“Yeah, you know it’s a wig right?”
“Yeah.”
“Because one white guy just walked by and scowled at me. And I was wondering if it was because of racism. And then, this black lady walked by me, so I was still wondering if it was racism. But then these two girls walked by and said they loved the way I looked and asked if they could take my picture. So which one is it?”
“I like it.”
“Cool. People in San Francisco scowl too much though. Everybody’s walking around with a scowl. I guess it’s because people ask you for money so much. When I used to go to the check cashing place, if I gave a dollar to everyone that asked, I wouldn’t have any money left. That’s be my whole fucking check.”
