“You live in this neighborhood?”
“Yeah, lived in San Francisco a long time, you can’t beat it. Used to live in LA, it’s great. Wonderful weather, and a lot of creative people, but I would wake up and look at the brown cloud over the city and ask myself, ‘why in the hell am I here?’.”
“How old are you?”
“77.”
“And what do you do here?”
“I’m an actor, I used to do photography like this too. Back when I was in New York in the 60’s. It was really happening then. I lost my passion for it, but I didn’t lose my passion for my creativity so I started acting.”
“Do you have any advice for keeping those creative fires alive?”
“Follow your interests. Do what you love. A lot of people sacrifice their time for a job or something else they think they have to do. I’ve never really had money. I mean…I had enough to pay my rent and live. But, for me it was more about being where the action was. That’s the way I’ve lived my life and I don’t regret any of it.”
