I walked into the New Peoples Cinema to check out the Japanese Film Festival and this young woman was standing in line to buy popcorn so I asked her, “What are you going to see?”

“One of the animated films. I’m super excited.”

“What is it about these films that you like more than standard mainstream films?”

“Well a lot of them have hand drawn animation that feels really personal, it’s not CGI based. I like things that feel human.”
