“Beautiful day isn’t it?”

“Gorgeous.”

“How’s your weekend going?”

“Pretty good, did some karaoke with some friends last night. They’re like karaoke fanatics, and this place is old, it’s called Val’s, it’s off of Junipero Serra Blvd. in Daly City. It stands alone on this hill and the only buildings around it are closed down, it’s dark. It’s old school. It’s a restaurant with this really cool lounge. Fierce velvet art that’s original. The bar’s been there probably 30 years. The waitress, a little latino lady, who’s one of the owners, ain’t takin shit from nobody. And they do fierce karaoke, like adults singing bee bop songs and people doing really good 80’s music. I’m like ‘wow, that woman in her 60’s is singing Tears for Fears?!?’ The food! We had fried chicken and drinks. And the crowd was really cool. They couldn’t wait to hear someone new sing. Ya know? It wasn’t a bad experience.”
