“Hi!”

“Hi!”

“You two are quite colorful. I like your style.”

her- “I like yours.”

“Thanks. You guys live in this neighborhood?”

him – “Naw, we’re visiting from Boise, Idaho.”

“I’ve never met anyone from Boise before. What do they have in Boise-”

him – “Oh, here we go.”

“Potatoes?”

her – “We’ve heard that before.”

“Is that a myth or is that true?”

him – “I can’t say we think about them while we’re there, only while we’re away because people ask us about it.”

“It’s the same thing with me, when I tell people I’m from Atlanta they say ‘Hotlanta!’, but no one from Atlanta ever says that. Is this you guy’s first trip out here?”

him – “No, we’re actually passing through on our way out. We went to Oakland and Berkeley. Went through Seattle too.”

“What’s the occasion? Just vacation?”

her – “Well, we’re thinking about moving to Oakland so we’re scoping it out.”

him – “But the whole thing’s a vacation road trip.”

“Oakland’s really fucking cool. There’s a lot of culture and art. First Friday of every month there’s a block party, all these art galleries open up and it’s a street party. Obviously San Francisco’s super cool, but Oakland is a little more grounded…rootsy. So what do you guys do in Boise?”

her- “We’re thinking about moving because he has a non profit that we’re trying to grow.”

“What’s the non profit?”

“It’s about providing a place for survivors of child sexual abuse to be able to talk about their history. Have it not be so awkward, break the stigma around it. It’s a heavy issue so we want make it a little easier to confront.”

“Right on. That’s cool man. I’m Garry.”

“I’m Ashley.”

“Matt.”
