I was walking through Washington Square park and this guy said “Play a game of chess?”
I said “Sure” and sat down to play with him. It was a good game but he beat me solidly. Then he said, “That’ll be $2.”
“Naw, you gotta say that before the game.”
“I did, you just forgot.”
I reached in my wallet and gave him $2 and asked him, “What do you do when you’re not playing chess?”
“I’m waiting on a call on a job, they say a position might open up in July.”
“A position where?”
“Sanitation.”
