“Pooh! What are you doing here? It’s been so long! How are you?”
“I’m great Granny! How are you?”
“Oh, I’m doing about as well as an old lady can. I don’t do much these days, atleast not anything I don’t feel like doin. You been traveling?”
“Sure have, I just got back from Berlin. Taking pictures…you know.”
“You went there by yourself?”
“Yep, but I met a lot of nice people.”
“I don’t think I could do that, go somewhere by myself, it takes a special type to do that.”
“Well I’ve been interacting with strangers on the street for almost 3 years now and I’ve found that when you approach people with respect, genuine curiosity and a desire to understand them rather than judge, they are incredibly loving.”
“I guess that makes sense. You got a girlfriend? You thinking about getting married?”

“I’m open to getting married, but I’m not in a rush.”
“That’s good, some people get married 4, 5, 6 times. I’m like ‘Don’t you learn anything from these marriages? I mean 1 or 2 times, okay. Even 3 times, but 4 times?? If that’s the case, don’t stop he
re, keep it moving.”
“I think people think that if they get married then all their problems will be solved and they can stop working on themselves.”
“You actually have to work harder, but it can be real beneficial if you find the right match…Pooh, you want some of this ice cream? It’s Butter Pecan, got some nuts on it. It’s pretty good, this tea isn’t sweet at all! But the ice cream is okay.”
“I just ate, but thank you.”
“Ok, you wanna come see my room?”

“This is my favorite chair, you can pull this knob and put your feet up. Sometimes I even sleep here. How’s your mom?”
“She’s good, she’s in New Orleans now and we’re going to Brazil tomorrow.”
“Oh really, my memory isn’t what it used to be. What you doing there?”
“Going to the World Cup and taking pictures.”
“Okay, are you hungry? I can get them to get you some ice cream.”
“I’m okay, thank you though.”
“Okay, well before you leave I’ll get you some money to get you some chewing gum.”
“Okay, thank you Granny.”
“How’s your mom?”
“She’s doing good Granny, doing good.”
“That’s good. You got a girlfriend? You ever think about getting married?”

Right – “Hello, my name is June. June Dobbs Butts. Are you Eric? I have a son named Eric too.”
Granny – “Eric is my son. This is Lisa’s son.”
“My name is Garry, I’m her grandson.”
June – “Oh…nice to meet you. I saw you with your grandmother, smiling, and her smiling. You were making her so happy. I have 2 children but they don’t come much. My daughter lives in California and we don’t keep in touch at all. Makes me a little ashamed even mentioning it…and I don’t want to take up your time.”
“It’s no problem. What happened?”
