“How long have you been married?”
Him – “34 years.”
“How’d you get together?”
Her – “We met on the first day of my freshman year of college. He was a sophomore and he was waiting to see the new crop that year. He was actually very arrogant.”
Him – “I was not. She always says that, but I don’t remember it being like that.”
“What’d he say?”
Her – “I can’t repeat it. It was a little over 7 years before we got married so we’ve actually been together 42 years.”
“Congratulations. Making it work that long is so rare these days.”
Her – “People think it’s supposed to be easy, so they give up at the first sign of trouble. Making a relationship last requires constant work, but it’s worth it.”
