“You two look so awesome!”
Him – “Thank you! Finally some recognition.”
“For sure homey, you live out here in Oakland?”
“Yeah, we just moved here from Pittsburgh. It’s a nice break from the winter and the bullshit.”
“What do y’all do out here?”
Him – “I cook.”
Her – “I sew and make clothes and jewelry.”
“Did you make that? It’s dope.”
Her – “Yeah, I’ll give you my card.”
“Cool, how’d you get together?”
Him – “She booked my band and we kept buying each other whiskey and we both like drugs.”
“Ha!”
Him – “It’s the truth.”
Her – “It is the truth.”
Him – “And then we held hands for a long time.”

“How long you been together?”
Him – “3 years.”
“What’s the most challenging part of your relationship?”
Him – “Right now?”
Her – “Being open.”
Him – “Being open.”
“Did you just decide to be in an open relationship?”
Him – “We kind of were when we first started seeing each other, just because of distance. She moved to Seattle like 2 months after I met her, and then we were kind of apart, and then we were together together constantly for like 2 years. Then we decided to open up and it just been really difficult dealing with her bullshit. My bullshit, her bullshit.”
“I hear you, I haven’t had a relationship last longer than 5 months in over 3 years so I’m open to trying new ways of relating.”
Him – “For sure.”
Her – “For sure.”

“What’s your favorite thing about her?”
Him – “Her bad attitude.”
Her – “Aw thanks.”
Him – “It’s also my least favorite thing about her.”
“What do mean by ‘her bad attitude’?
Him – “She’s truly a free spirit that doesn’t give a shit. Sometimes that means not giving a shit about me.”
“Is that true?”
Her – “Yeah.”
“What’s your favorite thing about him?”
“That he has great music knowledge. And that he’s very nice.”
