“I’ve been doing a lot of shamanic dream work. I’ve always remembered my dreams. I don’t remember parts of my life, but I remember all of my dreams.”
“What have you learned about dreams in your work?”
“For one, the more emotionally charged you are when you wake up, the more important the dream. Also that nightmares are there to challenge you, it’s not just to scare you. For instance, if there is an animal chasing you in a dream, it could be a spirit trying to connect with you to give you strength and help you overcome something in your life.”
“I kept having this nightmare about this assassin that was chasing me, I would try to escape, go under cars, fly, all these crazy things. Then I would turn around when I felt safe and he would cut my head off. Every night he would chase me and cut my head off. I got really scared and got my friends to come back in the dream with me and he would cut my head off. I finally said, ‘I want to face this’ so I went back into the dream and got really lucid. When he came for me I asked him, ‘WHO ARE YOU?!?’ He’s standing in front of me, very menacing, much taller than me, he takes his mask off…and it’s me. I ask him, ‘Why are you doing this?’ and he says, ‘You need to not lose your head’ and cuts my head off again.”
“What do you think he was trying to tell you?”
“I wasn’t paying attention to some things in my life. I was working a job in Germany where I designed machines for animals to be slaughtered more efficiently. 60,000 in a day. I was trying to convince myself it was okay because of the money I was making, but after that I realized I couldn’t do it anymore so I quit my job and went back to Romania.”
Right before I took this picture he said, “May all your dreams come true.”
