“I’m 3rd generation San Franciscan.”
“What do you do here?”
“I was an elementary school teacher and it was challenging because I feel that a lot of things we’re doing to young children are pushing them farther and faster than they need to be pushed. We’re not supporting the challenges they experience. Now I’m teaching preschool and we’re doing more developmentally appropriate education. That’s made me feel better. Now I’m not so frustrated with the bureaucracy of the school district and my work is much more rewarding. Not so much financially, but spiritually.”

“What’s your dream for the rest of your life?”
“I would love to speak Spanish. It would help me communicate better with my family.”
