I was sitting in Dolores Park selling Souls of San Francisco books when this little girl came up to me and said, “What is this?”
“It’s a picture book I made of people in the city.”
“Can I see it?”
“Sure.”
She starts looking at it…
“It’s all people.”
“That’s right.”
“Why do you take so many pictures of people?”
“Because I think they’re beautiful.”
“Some of them don’t smile?”
“Yep, some don’t.”
“Why not?”
“That’s a good question.”
“You just go up to people and ask them to take their picture?”
“Yeah. Would it be okay if I took your picture?”
“Umm..well…okay.”
