“The first time we ever properly spent time together we went for this beautiful hike at Pt. Reyes, and when we got to Dillon beach we just shut up and listened to the waves for a very long time, and to the squeaky sand. I remember that there were ladybugs everywhere in the sand – maybe it was mating season – and I just felt more at ease being still with him than I ever had anyone else. He has very open, receptive eyes, and he’s more present than most people walking around in the world – that was really apparent from the beginning, and then of course he won me over entirely with the music. Even before we were together he’d come into my room in the evenings and play my wacked-out, strangely tuned guitars while I lay in bed. I knew he was going to be my best friend.”

Him – “She’s the most creative person I’ve ever met. It’s just so natural for her to have these epic, vivid, and symbolic visions/dreams. And it’s pouring out of her like a river…and these things turn into songs, drawings, poems, photos etc…I love witnessing that. Also, I feel like she understands me like no one else. Like, I’ll have some yet to be formed, vague as hell impression of something, and she knows exactly what I am talking about…which gives me this secure feeling that helps me grow. She’s an incredibly sensitive human so she’s always pointing out colors I’ve never seen before; I can always look at her in this ‘did you feel that too?’ kind of way, and she always knows what I’m talking about.”
Her – “He’s so diligent! He’s got talent and intellect in spades, but the thing that consistently blows me away is his dedication. You can be absolutely brilliant and still make nothing of yourself if you lack discipline. When he’s tackling a creative issue he has this incredible capacity to focus all of his energy on it, so it always goes somewhere. He researches his ideas, and he’s always striving for full embodiment in his performances; he just lives with a lot of care, so it’s very easy to be impressed by him.”

What are your favorite things about each other?
Her – “His ears are really pink, and he never finishes his tea. He’s the absolute smartest absolute goofball I know.”
Him – “She often metamorphoses into creatures that like to burrow around my armpit area, these creatures make funny sounds too and they don’t care what other people think.”
