I’m making a film called Last Black Man in San Francisco that’s inspired by my friend Jimmy’s real life story to buy back the house his grandfather built in San Francisco. This film deals with a lot of changes in the city here, and all across America. At the core the film is about being and outsider in your own hometown and looking for your place. Jimmy and his best friend are going through this wild adventure navigating this place that keeps getting stranger and stranger.“

“I got into filmmaking because I’m an avid film lover. I grew up helplessly obsessed with films from the 30’s and 50’s. The films I love hold up after 60-70 years and that’s really cool. There’s something about films that the culmination of all the things I love: music, visuals, dialogue, and great storytelling. It’s all those things coming together in one medium. I want to pull all the things I love together in a new way. I especially love films that can make you think on a political level even though they’re first and foremost a great story. You get really into the story but afterwards it changes the way you think about things. One movie like that will always stick with me is Do the Right Thing. It engrosses you in it’s world and provokes this great post watching debate.”
