100 Sunrises // Starting Again

It’s been a busy month at Souls of Society. We had the 1st Annual Souls of San Francisco Day (aka my 33rd birthday), we launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Essie Women’s Group (we’ve raised over $22,000), and I moved into a new place in San Francisco.

Creating quality daily content on top of the changes that have been going on in my life had me feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. My self care declined and I started to lose sight of all the blessings in my life. I was falling asleep.

One thing that always energizes me is watching the sun rise. San Francisco has countless breathtaking views and I like to go up high where I can see out over the city and meet the sun. I decided the way to get back on track was to watch the sun rise 100 days in a row. Today was day 3 of 100.

The 1st day I walked to the top of a hill in John McLaren park while the wind whipped all around me. It was cold and gray. Because of the fog I couldn’t actually see the sun.

The 2nd day I thought I had set my alarm for 5:50am, but I didn’t, so I woke up at 6:03am. Sunrise was at 6:04. I immediately jumped out of bed and ran (ok…briskly walked) up the hill. It was only slightly foggy then. I couldn’t see the sun, but I could see the light coming from it. It was orangish-purple.

Today I woke up on time, walked up the hill, and waited for the sun to rise. It’s glow was pink as it came over the horizon. The higher it got the more vibrant the colors became. Yellow and orangish hues started to show. I stared directly into the center of the sun letting it burn away my souls’ malaise. A ring appeared and slowly moved in a circular motion around the periphery of the illuminated being. The light around the sun began to have texture and a reddish-green tint. I felt an internal ignition that began in my pineal gland and flowed down my body into my fingertips. I can feel it now as I recount that moment. If you’re still reading this then I bet you can feel it now too.

The whole experience reminded me of something I had forgotten: life is about connection and if you want to connect with life you have to connect to your Self first.

Just sharing to inspire you to reconnect with your soul and whatever it is that makes you come alive.

The time is always now.

If you want to connect with me or other members of the SOULS community we’re having a free google hangout 5/13 at 1pm. Follow this link to register: ccst.io/e/dijonbowden1
